The Cultural Commons Project is a collaboration of community partners.  Stevens Point is rich with outdoor activities and the Commons project offers a unique opportunity for individuals, businesses, local government and institutions to join together and enhance an existing area of Pfiffner Park without disturbing traditional activities.  In 2008, the City of Stevens Point adopted a Downtown Redevelopment Plan, acknowledging the Wisconsin River as a magnificent asset to the community. The plan addressed ways to provide additional enjoyment and maximize this resource by enhancing existing waterfront areas to create scenic, pleasant and visually integrated experiences.  Projects near the river, such as the Cultural Commons, KASH Park and Green Circle allow the average citizen to be involved with community enhancements that provide opportunities and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Stevens Point.
